The Irish Forestry and Forest Products Association (IFFPA), the group that represents the Irish forestry industry, today welcomed the appointment of Tom Hayes TD as the new Minster of State at the Department of Agriculture. The new Junior Minster's responsibilities include Forestry.
IFFPA Chairman Daragh Little said: "The Irish forestry industry welcomes the appointment of Tom Hayes as Minister of State. This is a critical time for forestry in Ireland with several important issues needing resolution in the coming months to ensure that the sector can make the maximum contribution to Ireland’s recovery. The Minister has a pivotal role in fostering the growth potential of the sector. Forestry is a real success story for the Irish economy, protecting and creating jobs and exporting high quality timber products to overseas markets. We look forward to working with the Minister in continuing to develop forestry as a major exporting industry."
